About Me
I grew up in Columbia, South Carolina along with two older brothers. We all attended Clemson University for undergrad. I wanted to go to law school to help people and to become engaged within the community, so I attended the University of South Carolina School of Law. During law school, I became interested in estate planning while helping my family with their own planning. I quickly realized that I loved the personal aspect of helping families.
After law school, I attended the Georgetown University Law Center to obtain an LL.M. degree in taxation with an emphasis in estate planning, where I graduated with Distinction and with Honors. This would enable me to focus my practice in estate planning and related areas.
After enjoying a few years in the Washington, D.C. area, I wanted to be closer to family and to be back in the Carolinas. I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where I practiced in trusts and estates at highly regarded law firms in both North Carolina and South Carolina for several years. During my studies and subsequent work experience, I learned how to implement a wide array of estate planning techniques, including very sophisticated strategies for high net-worth clients, who often had assets in excess of $50 million.
In Charlotte, I met the love of my life, Tom, and now we are happily married with three small children. We enjoy watching our children grow and change on a daily basis, running around to seemingly endless kid birthday parties, and going on adventures with friends and family (including our kids' six cousins). After I had my daughter, I felt that I could best serve my clients and my family by opening my own office.
Here, I do things differently. I strive to help people achieve their legal needs in a more personable and enjoyable manner. I keep a streamlined process by implementing sophisticated technology and systems that generate comprehensive, customized documents in an efficient manner. Most importantly, I help people pass on not only their assets, but the more important things in life such as their values, beliefs, and personal sentiments, to their families.
